My philosophy is that portraiture is more than a tilt to one side and smile. It's a collaboration between the photographer and the subject. To get the best results, we have to work together. While setting up your session, we'll agree on a vision for the shoot. I'll want to hear what you would like to have captured, how you will use the photos, where you will want to be photographed and we'll take it from there. I'll figure out how to make that vision a reality- how to get the right lighting and bring out all of the best moments in order to create a lasting memory.
Whether you're looking for headshots, family and child portraits, candid shots in a professional setting, I work with you to deliver pictures that are worth thousands of words.
I photographed singer Elle Varner's birthday party, recording Elle and her friends celebrating in a chic Manhattan club. During the party, Elle found out that she had won a Grammy for her songwriting work on Chance the Rapper's song "Coloring Book." I captured Elle celebrating with her friends and family, shots of the amazing venue and the food and of course, the surprise moment Elle learned she had won the Grammy.
I can help record the memories from any special event you have in mind: birthdays, anniversaries, religious celebrations, corporate events.
Telling Organizations' Stories
At its core, photography is all about storytelling and there are no better stories to be told than those of people working to improve their communities. I love helping organizations, causes and community groups visually communicate, whether it be taking photos of their events, capturing images for their web sites, publications, annual reports or other products.
I worked with Brooklyn community activists to capture a gathering of the American Civil Liberties Union's resistance training and launch of its grassroots PeoplePower platform. Following the training, community members met to create an action plan to make the north Brooklyn neighborhood more friendly to immigrant populations.
I also worked with Liberated Movement, New York's first donation-based studio that offers donation-based dance classes in a welcoming and inclusive environment. By photographing one of their open house events, I helped them tell the story of their unique studio for their web site and social media channels.
I also photographed for Bridgeport Organization for Youth Sports, helping them to tell the story of their various educational and athletic programs helping young people in the Connecticut city grow in their academic and athletic abilities.
Last but not least I have photographed for Refugees International, an organization that focus on helping those who are most in need. Peoples that have been torn away from their homes for a myriad of reasons. I photographed for their award ceremony honoring Samantha Powers, President Obamas ambassador to the U.N.
I love helping those who help others. If you are involved with an organization that needs images for your publications, web site or social media channels, please reach out and we can discuss discounted rates for nonprofit groups.
